Happy weekend! This past week has been one of the best of this summer thus far! I did so many fun things with family and friends and I am still currently in euphoria. I thought it would be fun to share a weekly recap with you all starting from last Saturday where the adventures began…
Saturday, July 14
To start off this weekly recap, I ventured to Governor’s Island for the first time since living in New York! I have always seen pictures and heard so much about how calm and fun it is to go there and bike. As many of you guys know, I don’t actually know how to bike…until Saturday! I went with Alex and Chloe and they were nice enough to VERY patiently teach me and gave me so many words of encouragement. They made it look sooo effortless and for the majority of our day I did not enjoy it at all…I was so scared I gripped the handles soo hard my hands started hurting haha. But I eventually got the hang of it and definitely can see why people love biking. On that island: biking > walking. We finished off the day with some ice cold lemonade and Chinese food (my fave). I definitely would want to go back and adventure there again!

I can’t remember the last time I had my whole family come to NYC! And this weekend, they were able to come and we had so much time together. My parents were able to take a couple of days off work and we didn’t plan much (which was rare for them) so we just enjoyed our time. We strolled through Columbus Circle since I live super close to it and down 5th Ave! And my parents got to try Korean BBQ for the first time…which they absolutely LOVED. We also went to Spot Dessert, another personal fave, and it was so funny to watch my dad devour all the ice cream (which prompted Alex to make homemade ice cream for all of us later in the night). And to finish off the day, we talked through Times Square at night which you know is one of my favorite things to do once in a while!
Monday, July 16
My parents celebrated their 23rd wedding anniversary this day! I always tell people that I want to find a love just like theirs. I don’t think I’ve ever met another couple who’s as giving and loving as they are to each other. AND the best part is they are still able to act like kids through it all—having a young heart is the secret to not aging I guess! But we had dim sum with some family members and I just got to relax and hang out with my family before they began their LONG drive back home (5 hours!). It is always so sad to say goodbye to them — goodbyes truly don’t get easier!
Tuesday, July 17
With no family in town and Alex back to work, I mostly working on other work and blog stuff. But this day was super memorable because I ran on the treadmill for 40 minutes!!! I know for some this might be an easy feat…but for someone with my stamina (which isn’t that great), I thought it was a huge achievement and really rode off that high for the rest of my workout. It just proved to me that accomplishing things little by little better than not accomplishing anything at all!

Happiest moment of the day? Being able to eat straight out of a cold watermelon (cut in half) with a spoon. There is no better feeling in the summertime and watermelon is my absolute favorite fruit! But this day was like any other and I don’t actually remember too much of what I did that day haha.

Thursday, July 19
I went on a couple of job interviews this day and heard super great results. And later in the day, I went to yoga in Bryant Park. If you live in the city, you have to go on Thursdays from 6:00pm-7:00pm. I am trying to get back into liking yoga, but sometimes I feel like it’s not for me. The breathing techniques that accompany the moves are harder for me to master. But Alex loves it and thinks that it’s a great weekly stretching workout for us to do. Plus, the bonus is that it’s free! But my best part about it is that after yoga, Alex usually lets me pick a place to grab dinner (I picked Chik-Fil-A last week) and that night we grabbed Xi’an Famous Foods (a FAVORITE) and some dessert from Bibble and Sip!
Friday, July 20
And the last of this weekly recap ends on Friday! One of my bestest friends, Chance, from my hometown came into the city!! I was able to meet his new boyfriend and friend and have the most amazing time. After strolling through Central Park, we all grabbed sushi at a new place in the upper west side called Tenzan, got Levain cookies, visited Lincoln Center and then ended the night with Mario Kart! Being with like-minded people always makes me happier and feeling lighter.

I can’t wait to see what this next week holds! I am trying to worry less about the future and to just move with the flow. This week has been one of the happiest in my life and the memories made are ones I will forever remember. I hope you also enjoyed this short lil’ weekly recap and would like to see more. What is something amazing that happened to you this past week?
A million and one thanks for reading — until my next lil’ thought then!

Oh, how fun that you learned how to bike! I did a bike tour a few years ago in Chicago with my husband and it was 4 hours! We did stop and eat and get drinks along the way, but whew! I was exhausted afterwards. I hadn’t been on a bike since I was a kid, so it was like learning it all again! You look so happy in these photos, NYC is so fun!

It looks like you had an eventful week! You look so happy on all of the pictures! It’s great you learned how to ride a bike – I love it – although sometimes my boyfrineds take me for bike trips that later on made me suffer sooo much (like riding up-hill for 15 minutes and drawning in sweat in the meantime). Hope your next week will be as eventful.

It’s great that you got to check out Governor’s Island! Oh man, I would’ve been in the same boat as you but I still don’t know how to ride a bike XD. It’s great that you learned on the fly! NYC looks really nice and always busy XD.
Happy 23rd anniversary to your parents, by the way! Even though they had to drive back home, at least you got to spend some time with them. It’s great that you went on the treadmill for 40 minutes! It takes time to build up your stamina :).
It’s great that you did well on your interviews. Hope you’ll get a good job offer! Have a great weekend ♥
