Recently I’ve been listening to a lot of podcasts at work to get me through the day without dwelling in complete boredom. I always rely podcast recommendations because I have no patience to search through the endless options. This one, Dirty John, came was the recommendation of a couple of co-workers. And it was AMAZING – I couldn’t stop listening!
Comprised of only seven episodes, around 45 minutes each, each episode was filled with suspense and drama. The podcast Dirty John follows a real-life crime event of a woman, Debra Newell, who fell in love with a man named, well, John. John’s background begins to unravel, showing sides of him that are without a doubt AWFUL. Yet she stayed and the people around her strayed. The events unfolds as you expected: she stayed despite everyone’s objection. He becomes more controlling and getting more means needing more. She snaps and the rest of the part where you need to pick up your listening device and start listening…
This podcast really showcased how downright evil some people naturally are. The natural inclination of some to be conniving, manipulative and pure evil was thrown threw John. The ending was so expected and the entire story, told by Christopher Goffard, was so inviting. It’s a must listen!
A million and one thanks for reading – until my next lil’ thought then!

I’ve heard the name Dirty John but had no idea what it was about and would always forget to look it up later 😛 This sounds so interesting and I’ll definitely be downloading the first episode to try it out! My most recent podcast binge was The Dropout, about Theranos’ founder Elizabeth Holmes. Have you heard of it/listened to it? -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey’s
