Time to sit down and put out to the world my 2019 resolutions today! Every year, I think to myself: “new year, new me”….yet this year, I want to focus on the mantra of “new year, better me”. Instead of always focusing on complete change in a matter of creating a “new me”, I want to focus on goals/resolutions that can create a better version of who I already am. While we are all enough just the way we are, there are always things to improve and I have transformed those areas in my life into my 2019 resolutions.
Family
Since graduating college and starting a full-time job, opportunities to return home to see my parents have become miniscule. I completely took all those chances back when I was a college student for granted! Every since my brother started NYU, my parents have become empty-nesters (is that what you call them?). I know they must be so lonely without all the bustle and hustle of having at least child at home. So this year, I want to ensure I return home as often as I can (or my PTO allows) and to call them whenever I can because I know all they want at times is to hear our voices.
I want this to also be a reminder for you to call a family member or take the time to go home!
Friends
A major area of my life that I want to focus on this year is spending more quality time with my friends. I was able to reconnect with some of my friends from home (read my favorite memories of 2018 here) and it was some of the happiest moments of 2018. I’ve already heard that people come into your life at specific times for a reason and this years’ events really confirmed it.
My 2019 resolutions in terms of friends is to make sure I block off more time for those around me. I spent a lot of time studying and started shutting myself away from the world and especially from my friends. It’s also so much harder now to meet up with friends compared to being in school due to different work schedules. I am going to make a conscious effort to make plans and follow through with all these amazing people around me!
Blog
In a few months, this blog will reach its two year anniversary (which is crazy to think about). Entering into this new year, I want to try something that is partially crazy and partially exciting. I want to publish five blog posts a week! Yup…from Monday to Friday, I will be posting one blog a day, in hopes of adding some value to your life.
I really questioned what I wanted to add to the creative circle of the blogging community. And at the end of the day, I still want to share with you all my loves, my ideas and thoughts and my life. I want to update you all on all the ups in life and the best sales, but I also want to bring more vulnerability to this blog. You all have become an essential piece of my world and this year, I want to walk you through every step of it.
Continuing to tap into this creative bubble of mine has been so much easier with this self-created outlet. I definitely want to challenge myself more in terms of blog posts and content creation. So, please let me know if there is any types of content you wish to see or already love!
Travel
I want to travel more in 2019! Whether it is in the states or abroad, the travel bug in me is getting restless again! I still remember my freshmen year of college (4 years ago eeekkk) where I was able to visit a new city in Europe every week…I want that again! Of course with work, I will probably have to stay with weekend trips to cities close to NYC. I want to start planning and preparing for them. I’m going to try to feed my curiosity side by seeing new places and even learning about different cities’ cultures!
Fitness / Health
I was on and off with fitness this past year – there were months were I would be so ready to go to the gym every day and others where I just wanted to eat like crap and lay at home. I am not looking to lose weight (although that would be nice) and I know I am not cut out to diet (my snacking abilities cannot be controlled!), so for now I want to focus on losing body fat. This also means losing the mentality to target what is “wrong” with my body and to have a healthier mindset when I do go to the gym. Being comfortable in my own body is a 2019 resolution that I am aiming to nail! I am also looking into different ways I can challenge myself at the gym so I don’t get bored with my workouts. If you have workouts that you love, please let me know!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is the end of taking a glimpse into my 2019 resolutions. By giving you all the bigger picture of what I want to work on in 2019, I hope it inspires you create some goals/resolutions of your own. Remember, that a new year doesn’t mean you have to ditch the old you – focus on bringing forward into the new year all the positives and ditch the negativity! Stress less, do more things you love and make sure to surround yourself with like-minded people!Happy New Year!
A million and one thanks for reading — until my next lil’ thought then!
Props to you for such well-rounded resolutions! 2018 has been a year of transition for me, and my friends have provided so much support, which I cherish even more now that we’re all in different places post-grad. I’m someone who’s really bad at keeping in touch, out of pure laziness, so I really want to make an effort to spend quality time with friends -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey’s
