Black Sweater + Distressed White Denim

Black and white, the two classic colors that is within every wardrobe I bet. I personally am someone who loves color…besides from black and white. Colors that are bright and pop, floral prints and geographic patterns…anything really. But recently, I keep finding myself reaching for more neutral colors and less color and pattern. Perhaps, I have gotten lazier and stopped wanting to think about which patterns go which colors and making sure I don’t clash too much. Or maybe I am finally growing older and dressing more of my age (as some would say).🙃 But then I got to thinking, neutral colors can also be fun—just look at all the other famous bloggers out there who are rocking all white/black/grey looks! While neutral colors may lack bright aspects, we can totally add in other pieces to make our outfit stand out. Enter this particular black and white outfit that I am loving at the moment.

It’s the perfect concoction of simple with a flair! It contains such basic neutral colors (black and white duh), but each piece has its own elements that allows it to stand on its own! Starting off with the sweater, it was such a lucky find at Zara’s annual sale event. After I moved into my new apartment this summer, I found out that I live very close to a Zara that’s large, nice and have mostly older women shopping there. Perfect for me to find my goodies but not too good for my wallet!😶 This sweater seems so normal until you see the back and the tie around the waste detail. It’s sooo cute! The little cutout detail in the back also adds a nice and unique touch. I have been seeing so many pieces with back cutouts and I’ve been loving it—it’s the perfect balance of showing just enough skin without being too risqué.😋

Onto the jeans that I get so many questions about! They’re an old pair I picked up at American Eagle a couple of years ago during their buy 2 for some price deal, which I am sure they still have. Every girl needs a white pair of denim and I cannot recommend these ones enough! They have a girlfriend fit which is a little tighter than boyfriend fit jeans but like the same style. They’re high-waisted, which is something you can never go wrong with. I also love how distressed they are! I would expect that will so many rips, all everyone could see left and right is my skin but they actually cover you up pretty well! A perfect balance. Adding a distressed pair of denim to any outfit adds that extra dimension to make your look go to the next level! 🔝

Old habits die hard I guess so I had to pop some color in the outfit somewhere and I did it with my accessories and shoes. Accessories and shoes wise, I went with classics. I added a pop of red with my Hermes bracelet, which is my most loved possession, and these crazy maroon tie-up sandals from Zooshoo. These sandals are sooo comfortable—so comfortable I am able to walk around the city the whole day in them. I had extra time that morning so I decided to curl my hair…which took way too long and overheated me. 😵 For my lipstick, I went for a new one I got from the drugstore: Toast of New York by Revlon (how cute is that name??). I love Revlon lipsticks—they’re so creamy, the colors are always so gorgeous, and not to mention they’re so inexpensive! 👏🏼

This outfit is one that I will definitely go back to and the individual pieces are also ones I am adding to my basics collection as they go with everything! I especially love clothing pieces that are able to stand in the spotlight on their own and I truly believe the pieces in this look can do just that! I find so many inspirations online and out on the streets that they definitely all influence my own style. But one thing I always try to keep in mind is to always be true to myself and to add my own personal touch. I am loving the neutral and the monochromatic trend at the moment and am always thinking of how I can add my own flair to it. That could mean adding more color to my makeup, accessories, or shoes! Adding new and old styles can never go wrong…I hope!😅
