Using Boots to Harden A Feminine Look

What defines your style? Most people describe my style as more feminine and I’ve been trying to harden my softer look. I find it hard sometimes to implement these pieces and get so jealous of girls who are able to balance both perfectly. For instance, I’ve always wanted a leather jacket, but don’t think I encompass the personality to pull it off. So I’ve been working on implementing little things into my wardrobe to make it less feminine and sometimes childish look (Alex thinks some of my dresses are for younger kids.

I got these boots from Christmas from my parents this past year and I love them. At first I was really hesitant on if I can pull them off with my style, but I’ve been able to pair them on with so many things. I think they are the perfect blend of feminist and masculinity. I can’t go as far as embracing combat boots into my wardrobe just yet, but these are the perfect middle ground.

The insides are lined with wool, as with most Ugg boots. And the outer layer is waterproof, which makes it perfect for snow or rain. I have been wearing these nonstop to combat the crazy bipolar NYC weather we’ve been having. While they might not be the best shoes to wear in warmer weather (I don’t wear boots in the summer anyways), it’s amazing for the other seasons. And it’s such a pair of cool girl boots!

With this particular look, I paired it with a simple black top and leggings and added some color with this cardigan that I stole from my sister’s closet when I was home. It’s such an easy look to pull together — casual yet with a kick with these shoes. I am in love with the simplicity of these boots and their ability to make such a change to any outfit. I recommend matching them with leggings or tighter pants because tucking your pants in will create a more polished look. How would you style these boots?
